For the last 15 years, Elyse has co-owned a speculative building business specializing in sustainable residential development and land use/conservation, first in New York and then in Washington. For five of those years she also worked as an environmental analyst for the municipally owned electric utility in Seattle. Kane is currently spearheading a project to bring wind energy to remote villages in Alaska, with the larger vision of developing renewable energy worldwide. She is also involved in numerous start-up companies as a business strategist.

Kane has a B.A. in International Relations and Spanish and a M.S. in Environmental Science.

She also has a penchant for the arts and has lived and traveled abroad in Europe, Asia, and Central America for close to ten years and is multi-lingual. Kane currently lives on a boat with her cat, Melvin, and spends most of her free time hiking, practicing yoga and enjoying the company of good people.
