Karie Jeisel

After growing up in the corn fields of Ohio, Karie moved to the forests and lakes of Michigan to study french and art.  With a bachelor’s degree from Kalamazoo College, she was asked to teach English to French high school students in Paris for a year.  Upon returning to the States, Karie veered toward studying biology and took many internships with organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, The Audubon Society, and various environmental education schools. These experiences helped to build knowledge in the natural sciences and helped her discover the niche that she would fill in the world of conservation.  Pursuing a Masters degree in Conservation Biology from Central Michigan University landed Karie back in Michigan where the flora and fauna were familiar and where she could be an asset to a small land trust known as the Walloon Lake Trust and Conservancy in Petoskey, Michigan.  Karie keeps busy in her free time teaching at the local YMCA, enjoying many sports and caring for her five animals and fiancee.
