Robert Deacon

Robert T. Deacon is Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara and University Fellow at Resources for the Future. He has examined a broad range of topics in natural resource economics and political economy. His recent work focuses on the use of alternative property rights institutions to manage fisheries. Deacon received his Ph. D. from the University of Washington and has held visiting positions at the Hoover Institution, the University of Washington, Resources for the Future, Osaka University and other institutions in the United States and abroad. He has served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management and on editorial boards for other journals. While a Julian Simon Fellow at PERC in 2008, he wrote Creating Marine Assets: Property Rights in Ocean Fisheries.
