Sharie joined PERC in the fall of 2006 and works with Renee in the front office juggling phones, copiers, printers, and computers, as well as responding to numerous requests from PERC staff. Sharie did not leave behind any of her former tasks when she came to PERC, but rather just added to her schedule.
She runs a small family farm where she has rebuilt all the fences, removed acres of brush for fire protection, sealed rock floors, and raised a menagerie of animals, as well as her three children. Sharie has a love of horses and not only trains for dressage, but enjoys long “hacks” across adjoining farms and ranches, through streams, and up mountains. Over the years, she has volunteered countless hours to manage her children’s basketball teams, horse clubs, and a host of other non-profits.
She was raised in Great Falls, Montana, and attended Montana State University in Bozeman, before marrying Randy Rucker, another native Montanan. Randy is currently a professor at MSU, and they have one son in high school and two daughters away at college

Founded 30 years ago in Bozeman, Montana, PERC—the Property and Environment Research Center—is the nation’s oldest and largest institute dedicated to improving environmental quality through property rights and markets.
PERC’s publications, each designed to resonate with specific groups, move ideas generated at PERC to broader audiences.
Research is at the heart of PERC's work, with a focus on the question: What is the link between economic growth and environmental quality?
The goal of PERC’s programs is to fully realize the vision of establishing “PERC University,” where scholars, students, policy makers, and others convene to expand the applications of free market environmentalism.
PERC's fellowships share a common goal of exposing new scholars, students, journalists, and policy makers to free market environmentalism, as well as enable scholars already familiar with FME to explore new applications.
PERC continues to publish and present a broad range of research and discussion through podcasts, videos, and other multimedia channels.
