Elise Breshears

Elise Breshears is a Ph.D. student in the economics department at Michigan State University. Her research interests lie at the intersection of economics and environmental issues. In particular, Elise is interested in energy efficiency, motivated by her work with Energy Trust of Oregon, a nonprofit organization that helps utility ratepayers reduce energy consumption through energy efficiency and renewable generation. There, she developed many research ideas, including the research proposed here. In addition, Elise is interested in forest management, mostly due to familial ties, as she comes from a long line of loggers. Outside of academia, her interests remain in the environment. Elise enjoys camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities. It is her participation in such activities that inspire her work in this field. Through studies, Elise strives to ensure that natural resources are appropriately allocated in a sustainable manner, preserving the earth for future generations.
