Te Maire Tau
Te Maire Tau is director of the Ngāi Tahu Research Centre and professor at the University of Canterbury. As a historian on oral traditions, tribal genealogies, and indigenous knowledge systems, Tau served as an expert witness for the settlement of Ngāi Tahu’s Treaty of Waitangi claim. He has published widely on oral traditions and the relationship between indigenous knowledge systems and how they intersect with western science.
