Alessio di Giulio
Alessio di Giulio – Founder, Italian Landscapes Exploration Alessio has spent the better part of his professional life as head of the Education & Tourism department of WWF Italy. In 2001, he left this position to start up a private enterprise based in the inland mountain Abruzzo Region (East of Rome). Alessio lives and works in a medieval village with four hundred inhabitants. He started up an education center called “Torre del Cornone” managed by Italian Landscapes Exploration (ILEX) that works with rural landscape interpretation and rural sustainable development. The center’s core goal is to enforce the local communities’ resilience capacity in the face of global change and global warming. The center promotes projects of community planning, rural tourism innovation, and environmental education, as well as delivers services such as university classes, cultural tourism programs, and hospitality in its guesthouse (www.torrecornone.com). The ILEX center has been acknowledged as an educational institution of public interest.
