Byron Thayer is a master’s student at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UC-Santa Barbara. Prior to graduate school, his career has been a hybrid of environmental and business work: he has both helped reintroduce river otters to the Rio Grande and provided guidance to Starbucks and PepsiCo for their green products. As a market research consultant, he co-founded an initiative to help progressive clients venture into green business by providing a nuanced understanding of green consumers. After graduation, Byron plans to further integrate his environmental interests and business acumen by either starting a venture involving biochar or becoming a corporate sustainability manager. In his free time, he enjoys playing with his dog, skiing whenever he is near snow, and learning to surf.
