Douglas Almond
Douglas Almond is a 2025 PERC Lone Mountain fellow and a professor of economics and international and public affairs at Columbia University, where he co-directs the Center for Environmental Economics and Policy. His research focuses on health and environmental economics, particularly the long-term effects of early-life exposures on health and economic outcomes. Almond served as a staff economist on the White House’s Council of Economic Advisers during the Clinton Administration. He earned his B.A. in economics from Carleton College and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Doug is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and has been a Fulbright Scholar at Beijing University.
