John Charles

John Charles, a Pennsylvania native, received his B.A. in secondary education from the University of Pittsburgh. He spent 17 years as executive director of the Oregon Environmental Council before joining the Cascade Policy Institute in 1997 as its Environmental Policy Director. While Cascade is a free market think tank, John’s experience with both state-based and free market environmental solutions allows him to speak to a much wider audience than most free-market advocates. He is a registered lobbyist in the Oregon legislature and works to give Cascade a higher profile at the legislature in future years.
