John Willmer

John is currently employed as a policy analyst for the New Zealand Seafood Industry Council (SeaFIC) covering a broad sustainable development portfolio comprising fisheries and aquaculture management, environmental policy and industry development.  John’s role sees him working with a wide range of industry interests and external stakeholders, including government and environmental NGOs on strategic and operational policy issues.  John’s background prior to working for SeaFIC included environmental policy and science positions for various central government agencies, an aboriginal management authority and research organizations.  John’s interests lie in the challenges presented by managing natural resources and integrating environmental, social and economic goals. Outside of his professional life, John is a keen outdoors person with a passion for biking and tramping.  John’s latest passion is his 8-month-old daughter with whom he is keenly looking forward to sharing future outdoor experiences.
