Justine Lang
Justine Lang was a 2023 PERC graduate fellow. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2022 with a B.S. in Environmental Sciences and a minor in Spanish. Growing up unconventionally, her love for the natural world stems from the six years she traveled the globe by sailboat with her family. Immersed in diverse ecosystems and cultures throughout the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Polynesian Triangle, she chose to concentrate her undergraduate career on conservation.
Before graduation, she worked as a wildlife conservation technician with the NC National Estuarine Research Reserve to research the impact of sea level rise on marsh sparrows. By graduation, she had gained a passion for avian ecology and an understanding of the intersection between people and the environment. Now, at the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management, she is specializing in conservation planning, and desire to combine scientific solutions with community engagement to apply good management practices.
