Nicci Diederichs Mander

Nicci is a freelance environmental consultant working throughout southern Africa. She specializes in urban environmental management and design, as well as natural resource management. Having started off working for local government as an Environmental Officer, Nicci has now been consulting successfully for 5 years and has established a wide network of collaborators and partners. She is a member of Commercial Products from the Wild (a consortium of 3 South African Universities and 4 individuals with a common goal to develop rural enterprises based on sustainable use of natural resources), as well as a Director of FutureWorks! (a Durban-based company focused on developing innovative strategies and approaches for sustainable development). Nicci has a great love of the outdoors, participating in a wide range of activities from hiking to windsurfing, ocean paddling and mountain biking. Having formerly won the South African mountain biking championships as a Junior in 1994, she is now aiming to compete in one of the toughest races in the world in 2005: the Cape Epic.
