Patrick Holmes
Patrick is program coordinator of the State of the Rockies Project at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He graduated in May 2003 with a degree in Environmental Economics and Policy. As an undergraduate, Patrick was involved with the Colorado College Sustainable Development Workshop and the summer after graduation, he was a research associate at the Sonoran Institute in Montana. Patrick specializes in measuring socio-economic and demographic change in the American West. He is co-author of the “Changing Economy of the West,” Sonoran Institute, September 2003; “The Colorado Plateau Economy Shifting Patterns and Regional Disparities,” (forthcoming); “Does Wilderness Impoverish Rural Regions?: Research on Economic Conditions in Rural Counties in the American West Containing Designated Wilderness,” International Journal of Wilderness, December 2004; and co-editor of the 2004 and 2005 Colorado College State of the Rockies Report Card. He is an avid outdoorsman, with a passion for kayaking and backpacking.
