Sara Sutherland

Fellowship Director, Senior Research Fellow

Sara Sutherland is a PERC senior research fellow as well as co-director of PERC’s Graduate Fellowship program. She is a faculty member at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. She is also a faculty affiliate at the Center for Environmental and Resource Economic Policy at North Carolina State University. Her research focuses on the political economy of fisheries, water management, and public lands. In recent years, she has examined property rights to fish in Alaska, the history and political economy of the National Park Service, and ecosystem service valuation in North Carolina. She holds a master’s degree in economics and a Ph.D. in environmental science and management from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
