Teresa Platt
Teresa Platt is currently the owner of 24/7 Policy and Communications, which specializes in “production p.r.”— public relations work focusing on food and fiber production, a complement to marketing programs which focus on the benefits of the end products. In the past, Teresa has served as the executive director of Fur Commission USA, a trade association representing over 400 mink-farming families in 28 states. Teresa has also been involved in the Southern Californian tuna fishing industry, including managing shoreside operations for her family’s 1,000-ton purse seine fishing boat. Teresa helped found the Fishermen’s Coalition in 1992 to educate the public about responsible fishing practices and the importance of fishing in feeding the global village. Over the past thirty years, she has helped pass state and federal legislation and enact positive policy changes at the international level.
