Pamela Baker
Pamela works as a fisheries biologist for Environmental Defense to protect marine ecosystems by working with communities to improve fisheries management, protect endangered species, and conserve estuarine and marine habitats. She employs a results-oriented approach and focuses on designing and implementing lasting solutions that benefit the environment and coastal economies. With education and experiences in marine biology and marine policy, Baker’s specialties include the Gulf of Mexico and tropical island ecosystems, coral reef and shrimp fisheries, and coastal aquaculture. She serves on state and federal fishery management advisory panels and has co-authored articles on topics such as the successes and failures of Gulf of Mexico marine protected areas and the potential for using assurance bonds as a tool for managing environmental costs in aquaculture.
